BC Children's Hospital Cystic Fibrosis Game

  • Melissa Mellor

The Bella Project is a collaboration with BC Children’s Hospital and Thinkingbox. The game was developed to motivate children with Cystic Fibrosis to do regular breathing exercises and win prizes at the same time. Cystic Fibrosis is a progressive, genetic disease that causes persistent lung infections and limits the ability to breathe over time. In people with CF, a defective gene causes a thick, sticky buildup of mucus in the lungs, pancreas, and other organs. The intention of the game is to improve the quality of life for children affected by this condition and to help them stay healthier for longer and avoid CF exacerbations.
