Be Free by Johny Dar (Paolo Tossio remix)

With the appearance of Covid-19, Johny Dar was struck by the relevance of ‘Be Free’ in the current climate, and invited Tossio to remix the track. An experienced and independent producer and DJ, Tossio has played alongside and back to back with big names like Tiesto, and supported iconic talents including Carl Cox, Mauro Picotto, Signum, Infected Mushroom, Astric, Chris Liebing and many others. His remix of ‘Be Free’ is an uplifting beat with unexpected twists that fluidly carries Dar’s soulful lyrics. Teaming up with video artist Mustafa Özkök, the team were determined to overcome the limits of lockdown, and managed to co-produce the music video for the remix, combining fresh footage of lockdown life with dynamic motion graphics featuring Dar’s original art. Özkök’s visuals are as stimulating to the eyes as Tossio’s remix is easy on the ear, while Dar’s lyrics speak to the soul - all the more given our collective metamorphosis in recent months. Ultimately, the production offers a euphoric yet reflective experience, delivering Dar’s original ‘Be Free’ message in a fresh and current format, reminding his audience to ‘rise above the fear’ into a more conscious awareness of being ‘together’.
