BEING NEURODIVERSE DURING A PANDEMIC for SEN Talk

Being Neurodiverse During a Pandemic for SEN Talk Thank you to @sentalk1 for allowing me to share my experiences and ramblings (plus a cheeky bedroom tour) � Its hard for me to not get emotional when speaking about ADHD. I have spent the majority of my lifetime feeling out of place, unintelligent and unworthy. When I found out that I had ADHD, everything fell into place and the world started making sense. ADHD’ers impulsivity, inattentiveness and inability to process emotion, focus and attention often creates a cycle of shame that leads to low self-esteem and fatigue. ADHD is complex, and often pretty annoying - for both parties. It is sometimes known as a motivation deficit disorder, due to our inability to complete the simplest of tasks and constantly getting distracted. People with ADHD tend to be overwhelmed and overstimulated incessantly. We are often deemed as lazy, careless and too sensitive. We are misunderstood. We need the people in our lives to show us compassion and patience. We need to be reminded that being a good person doesn’t mean that you never mess up or make mistakes, that there is always room for growth. Neurodiverse minds need to be nurtured and supported, and never judged. To all of my loved ones who are patient with me, who truly believe in me and show me compassion and understanding, I can’t express how much you mean to me and how much I adore you. Us neurodiverse brains know when people make the space for us - it makes us feel accepted and loved. Thank you to @noranordfromnorway for changing my life, constantly uplifting and educating me, and for being so bloody wonderfully ADD; I am indebted to you infinitely <3 Having combined type ADHD, dyscalculia and dysgraphia comes with its challenges and downfalls, but I would not be as joyous or brave without the support of those around me. I truly believe community care and support save lives. I am just one living example of that. Thank you to @sentalk1 for creating space for our experiences, thank you to all neurodiverse brains for being relentlessly passionate and resilient, and thank you to whoever is reading this x *All views within the video are my own. *
