Rachelle Cox is a Northern visual artist currently studying Fine Art Mixed Media at the University of Westminster. Her work explores identity politics and includes strong themes of LGBTQ+ issues, societal structures, the working class and sociopolitical issues through dreaminess and satire. Working closely in the fashion photography industry, she attempts to combat societal beauty norms and standards through her work, as well as promoting body positivity as a plus size model herself. Through her online presence and art work she is extremely vocal about her views on politics, mental health, the fast fashion industry and being an ally for marginalised people. Using cheap, accessible art supplies as a rejection of the elitist, white cis male centred world of art, Rachelle's work is a playful, messy world of colour and satire. She believes that art has the possibility for accessible discussions, education and political awakenings that help strive for impactful change.
We Built This City is an artist souvenir shop revolutionising the way people consume momentum goods. We represent over 250 local UK artists and host artist residencies within our shop. My job is to get to know the artists and their work and sell them to customers. I welcome customers into the shop, answer their questions about art and have a chat to them about the wonderful city of London.
