The Beonna is a community hub and events centre developed in an effort to save the Grade I listed church building in Benington village near Boston. Collaborating with the Benington Community Heritage Group we worked together to create something special. Starting with the branding, we developed a mark that is both creative and unique. As well as creating a new identity for the project we were also tasked with raising awareness of the history of the building and indeed the history of the local population. Once a visitor enters the building they are encouraged to discover the treasures within through an interactive activity sheet for the children and a newspaper designed specifically for adult visitors. The content of the newspaper was created by Root Studio's research team and the adverts and illustrations within were hand crafted to tie in with the building's Victorian influences and bring the the village's businesses from yesteryear back to life. Outside the building we have created a range of stunning interpretation displays that explain the evolution of the architecture of the building, describe it's importance within the landscape and encouraging visitors to learn more about intriguing local tales from the surrounding area. Key features of the signage include architectural, aged oak pillars, beautifully routed lettering, cut steel graphics, frosted window graphics and tamper-proof graphic panels.
