Betway the online betting giant was struggling to grow their social media audience and wanted to create reactive content that would help them stand out in a crowded social space. Gambling fans are notoriously fickle when it comes to brand loyalty, so Betway knew that they needed more than just special offers to grow their social audiences. Betway also sponsor a number of live events including The Darts Premier League and needed a social team to report the latest action from these key events.
As a social media content creative, I worked closely with the Betway account team to brainstorm and design fast turn around images on a daily basis. These assets would vary from promoting special offers, highlighting key sporting events and betting oportunities in the calendar and creating sharable and funny memes based on the latest sporting news.
I was also a key member of the Darts Premier League social team and accompanied the dart players on their UK tour. I created short videos, branded images and photos with the players, and combined this with on the spot copywriting to provide exclusive live reporting from the stadiums that allowed Betway's content to dominate the trending darts hashtags.
All in all, this activity coupled with targeted spend transformed the brand's feeds into must follow hubs of sporting banter and made Betway a social force to be reckoned with.
