Black Is Proud

  • Lou Jasmine

Black is Proud is my first short film and it’s a story I instantly connected with. The film explores the journey of Emma Ekersley, an employee of Accenture who, like many black and mixed race people, experienced a complicated relationship with race and identity. It was a great privilege to be asked to direct Emma’s story and as with all of my work, I hope this film encourages the viewer to stop and think about a lived experience other than their own as well as validate the experience of those who have and are going through something similar. showing those who are going through a similar experience, that light not only exists at the end of the tunnel, but all the along it too
