“There comes a time when silence is betrayal.” ― Martin Luther King, Jr.
Following recent events, we can’t stay silent anymore, and we had to post this today. In these precarious times, we stand in solidarity with those over in the US (as well as those across the world) whose rage is justified and whose pain is palpable in the fight against racism, injustice, oppression, and inequity.
We want to especially send our solidarity (and love) with Black #disabled people; as society must not fight racism with ableism and racism is not a mental illness. Disabled people of colour and specifically Black disabled people are more vulnerable to violence than their non-disabled counterparts. Don’t reinforce ableism nor accept #racism in any form or from anyone.
[SIDE-NOTE: And if you are disabled (and you want to participate in your solidarity actively right now) and are not able to do so as you wish, know it’s okay, and your support in whatever capacity (at whatever pace) is enough. As a disability-led business, we feel you since we are in the same situation, but we are doing what we can, where we can and as we are.]
Within our entire business (lead by our Founder & Chief Purpose Officer Sulaiman Khan), as allies who support you, who are willing to unlearn (and relearn) and listen, we are dedicated to the deep, lifelong work within ourselves to create tangible change with you, for you. It’s not always easy or perfect, but we are here, and we are doing all we can. Because #BlackLivesMatter. Always. ✊✊✊✊✊
