Black Lives Matter

  • João Daniel Pereira

In the beginning of 2020, aged 35, I decided it was time to make some changes in my life, I quitted drinking and smoking and started running and making healthier choices. So when the first lockdown hit London, being furloughed from my bartender job, I had an immense amount of energy and running and photography provided an escape valve. Then George Floyd was murdered. I had documented some protests before but when I went to the BLM protest at US embassy in London on the 31st of May I found my purpose, and since then I know that my mission is to amplify voices in activism and be an activist myself by dedicating all the time and energy that I can to support causes that I believe in and leave this world a better place. Since then I’ve covered more than 200 protests and actions in the UK, finding faith in the fight.
