Boiler Room Sting 2018

I was approached to create a short promo video for Boiler Room with a pretty open brief. Key words were "elemental" and "monolithic". Without thinking too much into the story, I decided to go about animating an excavation scene where some kind of artefact is detected within a boulder. Cinema4D was used to create the laser guided slicing of the frozen regolith, with voronoi fracture tools being used to isolate the rock's dynamics from the ice, allowing chunks to fall away as they are melted free Realflow was used to simulate the mud and snow that had formed on top of the boulder which subsequently falls away as the surface beneath is removed The boulder was a 3D scanned asset, as well as all of the textures used. The scene was rendered in Octane and comped in AE
