Working for London Fire Brigade during the Covid-19 lockdown made me responsible for london-wide campaigns. Realising that boroughs had cancelled public displays due to the health risks for mixing, but also increasingly the fire risks associated with people doing more bonfires and fireworks in their back gardens. Being the lead press and media officer I designed the campaign's creative direction - this included creating the media plans which involved press release, digital content and written copy, organising media interviews and then communicating with partners such as City Hall, Metropolitan Police and London borough council's. My aim behind the motivations of this video was to make it feel very emotive and sad - to get across the fire risks to London's communities. In 2019 we attended more than 2000 incidents over the Halloween and Bonfire Night period - 29 October to 12 November and that over the last five years 45 percent of fires ignited by fireworks during the Bonfire Night period occurred at residential properties.
