Boston Straight Edge Research Zine

Thoroughly enjoyed this research project, learning more about a specific genre that I hold dear to me, Boston Straight Edge Hardcore. What initially began as an innocent project uncovered a great case study into the horrifying fact that there isn't enough recognitition for women in the design industry! I got in contact with Bridget Burpee, the woman responsible for branding this entire genre of music and she told me about her experiences in the early 80's, designing for Boston Striaght Edge bands and the label X-claim. I got a hold of her archive of posters, flyers and record sleeves. To conclude, a male dominated genre took credit for all of these designs. Amazing to see where the genre is today and it's interesting to see how the aesthetic has remained exactly the same as when Burpree began in the early 80's. Whipped this all into a banging poster zine with full credit of the content to Bridget Burpee.
