Working in a team alongside: Jess Downie, Elliot Ellis, B— King, Philippa Lane, June Lin, Siu Y— Lo and Jake Pollock we were tasked to create an invite and to brand the University of Reading’s 2019 Graphic Communication degree show. The concept evolved from the word play of ‘embrace the space’ the rule we set ourselves was to take all uses of ‘em’ or ‘en’ within the copy and replace them with em and en dashes as a tongue and cheek nod to the departm–t’s association with typography. Another way to tie in the brand with the departm–t was to repres–t the footprint of the building and have its shape evolve and shift as it is a building that’s use is ever changing and evolving alongside the needs of the stud–ts and the tutors. It was a great experi–ce to work alongside fellow designers and to learn how to communicate with printers, it also gave a good insight into how to organise a successful ev–t.
