British Gas - Energy's Grand Journey

The story of how energy gets to your home might be close to the hearts of British Gas, but it's not something most people ever think about. Even an in-depth year of articles on the subject by The Guardian barely got a reaction from the British public. So we decided to do something a bit different. Within the larger journey are hundreds of really interesting little facts. We made these facts the stars and brought them to life as images and vines. Working with illustrator Tom Gauld, we turned round 80 illustrations in a month to tell the epic story of Energy's Grand Journey step-by-step. All images were shared on the British Gas social channels. They could also be shared from the brand content hub. It became British Gas' most successful social campaign and was nominated for best use of illustration at the CMAs.
