During my time with JCDecaux I worked within the Innovate team. Creating striking outdoor solutions for advertising campaigns. One of which was for Cadbury Milk Chocolate's Marvellous Creations launch.
The concept was a simple one, make the billboard look good enough to eat. Inspired by Willy Wonka's chocolate factory. It started with a simple sketch and basic mockup to get the agency's approval. Later that week we had started production, I visited the team in Stockport as they crafted it under our instruction.
To tackle production costs we had to problem solve, and ended up boxing off half the bar of chocolate and make the most of the spend. Getting the fibreglass the right colour took a lot of testing and comparing the chocolate to paint samples.
The campaign featured five specially-moulded fibre-glass billboards located in Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds and London’s Tottenham Court Road in a two week campaign that was planned and booked by PHD and Talon Outdoor.
