In 2016 I began painting in Virtual Reality using HTC Vive & Google Tiltbrush. I spent months perfecting my technique, enough time to lovingly sculpt 6 unique VR worlds for the public to explore, as i became Hewlett Packard’s first Artist in Residence to exhibit at Cannes Film Festival. In the HP Studio in the heart of Cannes, i branched out and used more tech to create pieces inspired by the festival. The aforementionedImmersive VR worlds, as well as sketches on HP tablets and large pieces printed with HP printers. This project was an extraordinary opportunity, i was able to expand and explore my own creative skill and energy, learn and be inspired by a whole new medium of art, and travel to Cannes to exhibit and demonstrate these unique artworks to Cannes attendees. Art like this demonstrates the undeniable strength of creativity, showing how our own skills can shift and grow when challanged and channelled in new innovative ways. The VR worlds and paintings can be viewed below, as well as a short case study film about my participation in the project with Hewlett Packard and Ivory Worldwide.
