Case Study: Jackson Guitars - Slipknot Meet & Greet

  • Curtis Sharkey

CSPR was brought onboard directly by Jackson Guitars to spread the word for a (very) short notice meet-and-greet with endorsed artist Mick Thomson – known as the guitarist in the larger than life metal band Slipknot. This was to take place at independent store Guitar Guitar Birmingham before the band played the Birmingham Arena the next evening . The objective was to ensure a high level of attendance from fans and to create a genuine ‘grass roots’ feeling moment for the fans and media in attendance alike as they connected with the Jackson brand, who managed to bring them together in what is a very rare occurrence for one of the biggest bands in the world. The brief called for strong specialist music and regional contacts across both online and broadcast media. Within 24 hours quality coverage (including Jackson brand messaging) was secured with a swarm of key national music and regional titles like NME, Kerrang!, Punktastic, Birmingham Mail, Shropshire star and in the planning diary’s for both key regional broadcasters ITV Central and BBC Midlands Today. Attendance from a trusted photographer from Getty images was confirmed to cover the event to capture the excitement maximise potential national media reach as well as from the Birmingham Mail.
