Choose Your Futures online platform

  • Aleksandra Szymanska
A microsite promoting the Global Futures Forum event. Featuring four interactive visual essays, the site invites viewers to explore potential futures in a highly visual and enagaging manner.
Project background:
The premise of the Choose Your Futures site was to open the conversation to the public and explore the themes of the Global Futures Forum in an accessible and highly engaging manner. The site mirrors the structure of our event, with four tracks exploring the different potential futures. The navigation allows the viewer to move freely between the tracks and explore the content at their own pace.
The site teases out the key questions that brands and consumers should be asking themselves this particular moment in time. It also acts as an archive and a snapshot of the thinking presented at the Global Futures Forum event.
I chose to use the medium of an interactive visual essay for the tracks to create a powerful collage of insights and real life case studies. The diversity of visual elements - photography, video and illustration - was brought together by the overall identity of the site and a series of typographic animations commissioned to represent each track.

Future of Brand Purpose
The first track investigates consumers’ desires for brands with purpose in relation to their drive for innovation. As we become more aware of the biases that black box algorithms are forcing on society, techno-optimism is waning, leaving in its wake a desire to recalibrate our moral compass and imbed both integrity and collective ethical codes of conduct into new technologies.
Future of Gender
While identities are becoming more fluid, our infrastructures and social norms remain static. How can we create meaningful change when we still cannot come to an agreed perspective on gender?
Future of Wellbeing
Economic growth, the hallmark of progress, is not serving to improve the welfare of society at large. Will new metrics of success ensure our collective wellbeing?
Future of Youth
With the most populous generation on record coming of age, how will their attitudes reshape the global landscape?
