Coin Design for the Royal Mint Chinese Lunar Year of the Dragon

  • William Webb

This was a paid competition I was invited to participate in by Lee Jones at The Royal Mint. The brief was to create a design to celebrate the 2024 Lunar Year of the Dragon (part of the Royal Mint's Lunar Year coin series). It had to be sensitive to Chinese culture and contain a British element, and also gain ministerial approval. Since Chinese dragons often inhabit watery places, this one is shown hovering over a Lake District inspired scene.
