Comic Club Jamboree - Drawing Challenge

  • Bette-Belle Blanchard

A commissioned workshop intended for a college/classroom, however was then developed for use as an online resource due to the Coronavirus pandemic. I developed this workshop for Camberwell College of Arts for use as part of the BA Illustration 'Audience and Visibility' module. "In this task we are generating stories through a process-led method of working - a process that is challenging. We are focusing on the production of content and ideas first, and to create as much work as possible within your given time frame. A process that is challenging presents obstacles you must overcome to reach your outcome. Adopting a problem-solving attitude to your drawing practise should help you to become free with your work and outcome. Try to take advantage of happy accidents, which often expose new possibilities for your work that would not usually occur in your most comfortable practise. These tasks aim to provide the reader with accessible drawing-based challenges, exposing and taking advantage of the possibilities within an environment that might present itself as of limited resources" This workshop is inspired by my restrictive drawing technique, showcased in my Art Direction for record label All Centre.
