Instagram project showcasing 7" records in their proper "company sleeves". When I first started collecting rockabilly, rhythm and blues and soul 45rpm records, I was DJing the records I bought several times a month and all I really cared about was the records themselves. However, now that I DJ much less frequently, I’ve become slightly obsessed with reuniting my favourite old records with the paper company sleeves they would have originally been issued in. In my quest to research what sleeve is relevant for a particular release, I’ve found that 7" company sleeves tend to be showcased or catalogued on their own – as do the labels of old records. Instagram seemed like the perfect place (and format) to showcase a whole bunch of record labels in the context of the original record company branded paper sleeves they were released in originally. As well as a dedicated Instagram feed (@company45sleeves), I’ve also set up a corresponding playlist on Spotify that features most of the tracks. Search for “company45sleeves” in your Spotify app to find it. Thanks to Anna at Crispin Finn for making the logo for me!
