Countdown Begins… London Design Biennale 2021 Ghana Fundraising Launch

  • Chrissa Amuah

In light of the uncertainties of the unprecedented times we find ourselves in, the decision has been made, by organisers, to postpone the London Design Biennale 2020 show to June next year. While initially disappointed, we can see the silver lining and are rethinking our approach in realising this project. It gives us the chance and time to speak to you and involve you in this process, as a collective community. We are excited by this unique opportunity to share and provoke a different perspective of Ghana, the continent and intercultural exchange. In just four weeks, we will be launching our fundraising campaign to support this site-specific project, titled 'Amplify'. Donations and sponsorship will finance the production / shipping / installation of the materials produced in Ghana. Our collaboration explores the conversation between Ghana and two of its colonial masters, England and Denmark, over four centuries. In response to the exhibition theme of 'Resonance,' 'Amplify' focuses on the 'what ifs' and 'maybes' should contact have been a balanced cultural interchange of ideas and trade. Consider it a starting point to reimagine a better future. We invite you to be part of the collective effort to realise this project. We ask for those interested in pledging their support for the project, to let us know ahead of the campaign start. Please email londonbiennale2021@gmail.com for more details. With all that is going on in the world, the participation of people not often allowed a voice, to represent the continent of Africa, at the London Design Biennale 2021 could not be more significant and timely. We hope for your support to get us there. Counting down to Monday 21 September 2020
