Cozinha is a Portuguese-inspired cafe and restaurant based in Zhuhai, China. In 2017 we flew to China to complete three branding projects in the Henqin New Area, a special economic zone adjacent to the gilded casino hub of a city, Macau. But as for many design projects, this was cancelled midway through completion as the client decided to hire cheaper local designers to execute the rest. The designs were different back then and was stored on my cloud storage for years. I decided to bring the project back with major tweaks applying the things I've learnt since then. Macau was colonised by the Portuguese navigators in the 1550s through to the 1990s, leaving a heavy influence of the Western culture in the city. The client wanted this reflected to the new branding of Cozinha, with a modern twist. I was inspired by the lines and curves of a ship travel routes sailing around the world when viewed on a map, which I incorporated to the logo and other branding elements.
