David de las Heras - Pan Macmillan

  • Emilie Tardivel
  • Lucy Scholes

Pan Macmillan commissioned David De Las Heras to illustrate the former poet laureate Carol Ann Duffy's poem 'Frost Fair'. Inspired by the fairs held on the River Thames in London as it froze over in the dramatically cold winters of the Little Ice Age, this beautiful, moving poem captures both the creativity of the city and the drama of Winter.

With David having specialised in painting at the University of the Basque Country, there is a harmonious mix of contemporary graphic forms with classical training that create something both endearing and adept. Each page, beautifully hand painted - Frost Fair is an irresistible read for the festive season.
