Espresso is an online award-winning platform. It provides users with curriculum-centred primary teaching resource. I was employed by Discovery Education (Yes, that Discovery) to re-design the Espresso platform, as it had become dated and many teachers and primary students alike were struggling to use the platform for various reason’s, many schools were no longer renewing their yearly subscriptions as they were signing up to competitors instead. I was involved in the product discovery process, including user research, helping them build strong user experience and UI design to ensure the major pain points users were experiencing were resolved. Challenge Espresso is used by millions of primary school students of all ages, during the time students start school at age 4 and leave at 11 students mature at an accelerated rate. Therefore the platform needed to grow with the students to ensure it is age-appropriate. When designing the navigation I had to consider the reading abilities for young students who could not read, or were learning to read etc. To learn more about this interesting project please click through to the case study below.
