Earth's Membrane

  • Laura Marques
"Earth’s Membrane" is part of an investigation about the textural possibilities of nature and it’s visual exploration throughout photography. It is concerned with exploring textural and sensorial possibilities and impossibilities, exposures and protections in between nature — in its human and inhuman branches, continuations — and photography.
The images were created in a process of catalysis through senses (specially touch) resumed through the photographic practice. It condenses an attempt of connection and a realization of disconnection. Longing to belong, to per pass the membrane of separation between inner and outer spaces. An attempt of bodily understanding possibilities of fusion and separations between person and place, place and place, uncovered or yet again covered by the film of the photographic image.
