EDF: Energy of the Nation - London 2012 Olympics

The EDF: Energy of the Nation was a digital campaign that analysed the 'mood of the nation' and turned it into a visual spectacle on the London Eye. At Imperial Leisure, we worked on the digital, social and mobile components of the campaign: 1) Experiential 3D visualisation & mobile app By analysing the sentiment behind Twitter conversations during the Games, we were able to assign each tweet as 'negative' or 'positive' energy, then plotted them on a map based on their location. The tweets would animate across the map, creating a dynamic snapshot of the UK's mood at the time. The visualisation was used at an experiential event by the London Eye and was accessible through a mobile app. 2) Website & infographic We built a website and created an interactive, real-time infographic that analysed conversations about the Olympics. 3) Facebook application The final component was a Facebook application that analysed the 'mood' of your Facebook Timeline.
