ekō magazine was founded in collaboration with Goldsmith's Student Action for Refugees group, as a platform for storytelling and creativity. It is a means of exercise freedom of expression and bringing together the voices of the refugees, asylum seekers, volunteers and activists. Published in English, Arabic and Farsi, ekō magazine centres around accessibility and information sharing.

ekō began as an experiment into finding a vehicle for the narratives of the refugee crisis, as part of the Attempts On Their Lives project. The first issue went to print at the beginning of March and was a great success. The publication has managed to feature work from over 30 contributors, from all across the world. Since then, we have published three more issues and created a website. A small community has formed and is beginning to grow from the sharing of experience and storytelling. New relationships are being formed both online, and in person, and its amazing witnessing so many different voices coming together.
Publishing the articles in three languages meant I had to revisit my understandings of the rules of publication design and explore ways in which the magazine could function and be legible in English, Arabic and Farsi.
