Ella

This series uses the landscape to evoke the softness yet radicality of female friendship which is depicted through poetics of light, form and colour. Using the lens, I share with the viewer our experience of and sensitivity to the land which has shaped our character and deepened our connection to one another. Ella’s glowing hair is the beacon throughout, acting as the symbol of the stability she provides to me within the turbulence of life. She is the constant in the rapidly changing experiences we go through together. Over the course of our ten years, we have kept one another grounded as everything else around us has been in flux. Physically I am absent, however, my presence is evoked through the decisions I made with the lens. These choices reflect my essence and this is embedded within a visual dialogue communicated with quiet intensity throughout the series.
