More than expected, people heavily rely on signs to guide themselves in and out of locations. With that idea, I wanted to test out if signs can change an individual’s perception of how a certain place looks and whether it could change the perceived atmosphere of the place. I placed exit signs on top of photos of shops, restaurants and streets near me to see how differently that location looks with that one exit sign. Surprisingly, because the sign was placed on top, everyone entering that place seemed like they were leaving the place rather than entering it. It was interesting to see how one strong word can affect how a photo is seen from another perspective.
