Facebook landed at Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity, to showcase the platform’s family of apps, brands, products and services under the theme ‘Connected, we can create anything’. For B2B and B2C audience, the beach space held a programme of events and keynote sessions, which were integrated amongst a series of activations from the apps and brands owned by Facebook. The largest activation of this kind, was a 2D/3D installation with Instagram artist Alexa Meade and photographer George Lange. Guests were captured within a painted scene, amidst painted props and a live model - all painted to correspond with the scene. The content captured on camera, created what seems like a 2-dimensional painting to the viewers eye, captured with the audience from the real 3-dimensional world. This activation, echoed a larger concept and installation for Instagram inside the Palais des Festivals, at the heart of Cannes Lions. Facebook also took over the interior of the Barriere Majestic Hotel, branded as ‘Facebook HQ’ for a series of B2B meeting, keynote and hospitality areas. The environmental set design communicated 'connectivity' and 'creativity' by the use of gradient colour, moving light, with perspective, slats and angles, to connect spaces of a multiple level venue. Organic textures, such as foliage and moss, were used to soften the architectural look and feel, and communicate creativity as 'growing' and 'continually evolving'.
