Fahrenheit 451

  • Marina Melikian

Fahrenheit 451’s story is based in a dystopian world where the firemen are supposed to burn books instead of setting out fire. Every piece of literature/text is banned, and those who possess books are reported and put in jail. In the film by François Truffautt, which is based on the book, you can see the main character Montag reading a newspaper in a few scenes. The paper completely consists of pictures, which replace the text to tell the story.

This project is based around the idea of imagining how “Fahrenheit 451” would look like in that dystopian world. How do you tell a story through pictures? Is it possible to disguise text in the book?

The full length of the hand made book, counting both sides, is 27 metres long.
