New blog post in collaboration with other working class creatives! Working class creatives are at the lowest level in a DECADE And though higher education is more accessible than ever, the progression gap between the most & least advantaged has risen to its highest ever level Why? Nepotism? Wealth disparity? Classism? For a looong time, I’ve wanted to write about mine & others’ experiences as working class creatives (the link is at the bottom of this post) Especially after going to uni and realising how strongly your family’s wealth & upbringing can affect opportunities In this piece - I aimed to concoct a delicious balance of moaning, resentment, celebration, gratitude and humour And I offer some great resources & platforms Disclaimer: no posh people were hurt in the making of this It may annoy some people however… Thank you to the inspiring Niko, Sonny, Ivan and Angelika from Dazed Club for so openly speaking to me & helping make this happen - sorry guys I'm trying to credit you but the app crashes every time I do! :( The artwork is also illustrated by me. I wanted it to look kinda sh*t but also…good? Any feedback is welcome, whether you loved it or hated it I loved the collaborative nature of this blog & the fact it raises awareness of something that affects so many people. If any creatives would like to collab on a piece then hit me up! Artists, designers, business owners, stylists, musicians - especially if you’re into subculture, sustainability, self expression, ethics…let’s talk deep about your passions & share your expertise Thanks Dazed Club!
