FMP: Evolution Of Denim

For my collection I chose to create an entirely sustainable collection of garments by upcycling second hand, vintage denim. This method allowed me to expand the lifespan of the material whilst reducing the need for new resources. I have used a range of techniques to create a product that is innovative and fashion forward such as weaving, layering and patchwork. I also wanted to create sustainable finishes such as laser etching to give an acid wash effect without the use of toxic dyes. From doing this I hope to raise the awareness of the importance of upcycling proving that even common materials such as denim can be made into something brand new. I hope to make a change to the fashion industry, proving that fast fashion standards should not limit our creativity.
