Fracta: An ordered journey into chaos is a project that aims to explore the relationship between chaos and order within a graphic design format. Drawing from influence from chaos theory, Fracta became its own typeface by the application of the Mandelbrot set equation on selected anchor points on an existing typeface.
The publication itself acts as half type specimen, half contextual journal. It showcases the typeface in an editorial format and gives an overview on some interesting and topical facets of chaos, including fractal geometry, the Mandelbrot set and the role of chaos in the authorship of a designer. The mathematical anatomy of each anchor point is also given in vast detail.
