A short experimental documentary, Gabriela is Kotiga’s love letter to her best friend, Gabriela; but also to herself, and to the ever-confusing sphere of the in-between they both inhabit. It is a story about two unbounded lives; two young women who share the experience of un-belonging. A layered exploration of the female voice, subjectivity and power, Gabriela fuses the subject and the object, posing the question who are stories really about; and can they ever be only about one person.
