GAIA
This collection is based on the concept of the Greek goddess Gaia, the Mother Earth. In Greek mythology it is believed that the spirit of Gaia arrived to create the Earth from chaos, and as she longed for love, created the sky with which she conceived the Muses, the Fates, time and the oceans. I wanted to use this concept to create a high-end luxury embroidery collection for a womenswear fashion outcome through the use of techniques such as hand embroidery and embellishment, Irish machine embroidery, CAD embroidery and digital print. My designs mostly focused on florals and fruit due to their blooming and fertile nature, as well as shapes taken from the female form to portray Gaia herself.
