About me
I am a graduate textile designer from the Arts University Bournemouth with experience in the luxury fashion market. Throughout my time in industry and through my desire to be a student for life, I found a particular area of interest within sustainability and ethical practices. This has lead me to starting my futureproofblog! I hope to develop a career within future trends forecasting and sustainability consulting, and believe my dedication and ambitious nature will drive me along the way. Through all my employment and educational opportunities, I have developed some key transferable skills such as an acute attention to detail, excellent time management and an ability to stay organised, even when working on multiple projects. I hope to become a part of an innovative and future-focused team, where I can be a contributor to a team which makes a difference. Feel free to check out my blog and social media pages: futureproofblog.com @futureproofblog @dariaiwondesign

  • GAIA
GAIAThis collection is based on the concept of the Greek goddess Gaia, the Mother Earth. In Greek mythology it is believed that the spirit of Gaia arrived to create the Earth from chaos, and as she longed for love, created the sky with which she conceived the Muses, the Fates, time and the oceans. I wanted to use this concept to create a high-end luxury embroidery collection for a womenswear fashion outcome through the use of techniques such as hand embroidery and embellishment, Irish machine embroi
  • Joy
JoyThis project was based on the psychology behind the feeling of joy. Based on Ingrid Fetell Lee's book titled 'Joyful: The surprising power of ordinary things to create extraordinary happiness', this project focused on the 'Aesthetics of Joy' such as abundance, colour, boldness, nature, playfulness, harmony, celebration, as well as many others, which inherently produce a joyful response within us. I wanted to take these elements and translate them into a fashion textile context through embroidery

Throughout my education at the Arts University Bournemouth I have had the opportunity to experiment with different techniques which allowed me to develop a creative handwriting and subsequently build a specialised skill set. This degree has allowed me to learn about the industry and the many challenges that come with it, which I believe has well prepared me for my entrance into the design world. My time at the university has allowed me to thrive as an individual and build confidence in myself and my creative abilities through critiques and presentations.
