'Genealogo' Screenprints

‘Genealogo’ - Genealogical Dynamic Identity System This major project was borne out of strong interests in the subject areas of genealogical identity and dynamic identity. The aim was to create a genealogical identity system for my family using dynamic identity theory (from dynamic branding). This would produce contemporary flexible ‘genealogos’ for my paternal and maternal family, representing the families as a whole as well as the individuals within it. The Genealogo system has scope to be developed wide-scale and applied to anyone from any cultural background. Thus, the produced genealogos are versatile, with potential to appeal to a wide target audience, and wide range of applications. Screenprints This set of A1 and A2 fabric and card screenprints present abstract variations of one given genealogo design (my personal genealogo). The screenprints were inspired by African batik textiles, where vibrant off-printed colours of abstract shapes can be seen, as well as nsibidi symbols found within the genealogo pattern.
