Ghanaian photographer Paul Ninson on how he was able to visit the ‘village with no men’

A place for women, by women: that’s what Umoja, a village in Samburu County, northern Kenya, represents. It looks much like other tribal settlements or manyattas – with surrounding grasslands and huts, where communal living is the norm – except for one thing. It’s void of men.
