Glasgow Orchestral Society branding

  • Kath Oakley

Glasgow Orchestral Society is Glasgow’s oldest amateur orchestra and for the past six years I've worked closely with them on a range of collateral. From updating and modernising their logo to designing flyers, posters and programmes to advertise their four concerts each season. After listening to the hero piece and researching the composers intentions, I read about any relevant historical context before carefully selecting stock photography. A suitably seasonal colour scheme is adopted within the grid layout, which gives it a continuity and builds recall in the audience. As well as elevating the orchestra from other amateur ensembles the branding has established a confident and professional aesthetic, which in turn has attracted a wider and larger audience.
