About me
With over twenty years of design industry experience working within a wide variety of sectors – as diverse as the arts; charities; education; music; leisure & tourism and the drinks industry – and from global to local reach, I bring a research-driven, empathetic approach to branding. Combining an artistic sensibility with a clean, modernist design aesthetic allows me to produce work that can have a broader scope and reach. At Front Page I was a key member of the creative team for Disney and Celebrity Cruises, producing a range of materials for consumer and trade use. In 2016 I oversaw the branding of Lussa Gin – which involved the design and illustration of the packaging, as well as an extensive suite of illustrations for wider brand and website usage. This lead to the International Wine & Spirit Competition Gold Award for Design in 2018. I've also enjoyed mentoring at Graphic Design Festival Scotland for the past few years as well as at Glasgow Caledonian University.
Projects
  • Scottish FA Euro 2020 Illustration
Scottish FA Euro 2020 IllustrationAs part of Steve Clarke's Euro 2020 squad announcement I was asked, along with 25 other creatives, to illustrate one of the chosen players. I hand-drew a pen and ink drawing of defender Scott McKenna, before digitally colouring and designing the lion rampant background. The illustration featured across Twitter and Instagram, as well as in the launch video itself. It is also available on a range of merchandise and 4 sheet posters.
  • Glass Rebrand
Glass RebrandGlass are a dynamic, internationally renowned theatre company, but instead of working with trained actors they work with members of the public, using improvisation and their own experiences to build a performance. As a result, each Glass performance is completely unique, demonstrating the scope of human emotion. When they asked us to rebrand I felt they should own their name more and it immediately offered lots of visual cues to expand upon: light; angle; transparency; reflection, etc. But I w

From Lockdown Zine illustrationWas chuffed to be asked by Ben John Oliphant to design a poster for From Lockdown Poster Zine – based on what life is like, or feels like, as we head towards the end of (hopefully the last) lockdown. Featuring 28 posters from 28 creatives, it’s now printed and for sale with all profits going to Chris's House in North Lanarkshire, a great cause who aim to reduce the number of people dying as a result of mental health. Printed by Newspaper Club on 55gsm newsprint, tabloid size. For more info and
  • Potluck Zine illustrations
Potluck Zine illustrationsPotluck Zine is a print and digital zine all about stories of cooking, eating and sharing food. It donates 10% of sales to The Trussell Trust to support food banks throughout the UK. I‘ve recently started to contribute illustrative work to accompany articles and giveaways. www.potluckzine.co.uk
  • Lussa Gin branding
Lussa Gin brandingLussa Gin are a small batch gin company based on Jura and set-up by three women with a passion for the wildness of the island. They use botanicals grown and gathered on the island. To evoke the wildness of Jura I took my cue from the colour of the landscape; the copper of the bracken for the main label and logo lock-up, and made pen and ink sketches that evoked ‘field notes’ to help keep it rooted in its origin and evoke that unique and homemade feel. For the label on the back I drew a detaile
  • Glasgow Orchestral Society branding
Glasgow Orchestral Society brandingGlasgow Orchestral Society is Glasgow’s oldest amateur orchestra and for the past six years I've worked closely with them on a range of collateral. From updating and modernising their logo to designing flyers, posters and programmes to advertise their four concerts each season. After listening to the hero piece and researching the composers intentions, I read about any relevant historical context before carefully selecting stock photography. A suitably seasonal colour scheme is adopted within t
