About me
Studio Okko is Kath Oakley, independent graphic designer and illustrator. With over twenty years of design industry experience working within a wide variety of sectors – as diverse as the arts; charities; education; music; leisure & tourism and the drinks industry – and from global to local reach, I bring a research-driven, empathetic approach. Combining an artistic sensibility with a clean, modernist design aesthetic allows me to produce work that can have a broad scope and reach. In my nine years at Front Page in Glasgow, I was a key member of the creative team for Disney and Celebrity Cruises, producing a range of materials for consumer and trade use. In 2016 I oversaw the branding of Lussa Gin – which involved the design and illustration of the packaging, as well as an extensive suite of illustrations for wider brand and website usage. This lead to the International Wine & Spirit Competition Gold Award for Design in 2018. As a sole trader I offer a one-to-one, bespoke service to suit the needs of a brief, ensuring clear communication and focus throughout. I am fuelled by a genuine interest in the people and companies with whom I choose to work. I take time to listen, ask questions and to find the essence of a job. This leads to an authentic and empathetic-based outcome which is rooted in the foundation of a project.

  • Scottish FA Euro 2020 Illustration
Scottish FA Euro 2020 IllustrationAs part of Steve Clarke's Euro 2020 squad announcement I was asked, along with 25 other creatives, to illustrate one of the chosen players. I hand-drew a pen and ink drawing of defender Scott McKenna, before digitally colouring and designing the lion rampant background. The illustration featured across Twitter and Instagram, as well as in the launch video itself. It is also available on a range of merchandise and 4 sheet posters.
  • Glass Rebrand
Glass RebrandGlass are a dynamic, internationally renowned theatre company, but instead of working with trained actors they work with members of the public, using improvisation and their own experiences to build a performance. As a result, each Glass performance is completely unique, demonstrating the scope of human emotion. When they asked us to rebrand I felt they should own their name more and it immediately offered lots of visual cues to expand upon: light; angle; transparency; reflection, etc. But I w

From Lockdown Zine illustrationWas chuffed to be asked by Ben John Oliphant to design a poster for From Lockdown Poster Zine – based on what life is like, or feels like, as we head towards the end of (hopefully the last) lockdown. Featuring 28 posters from 28 creatives, it’s now printed and for sale with all profits going to Chris's House in North Lanarkshire, a great cause who aim to reduce the number of people dying as a result of mental health. Printed by Newspaper Club on 55gsm newsprint, tabloid size. For more info and
