Go Chi Minh Logo redesign

  • Nadia Fontana

This is the patch I designed for Go Chi Minh's new military themed era. For this they wanted a military badge inspired by the logo of their secondary school, where their band formed. Initially they intended to simply change the colours and repurpose the original school logo but after some trial and error we found that this didn't look militant enough. From the original logo, I thought the bird represented was an eagle until the band member told me it was supposed to be a Phoenix rising from the ashes, which was a symbolic image for their school. Because of this I decided to redraw the bird entirely to better represent this. We decided to look to the badges in Metal Gear Solid for inspiration. This was an excellent idea as it gave the logo a rough edge but also a fun, bold style. I decided to also add rays shining from the Phoenix to communicate it's power and rebirth.

(Initial recolour tests when I thought the bird was an eagle)
