Graphic Design 2016

I created three different posters in Photoshop to showcase for my online portfolio. I enjoyed being able to use the software to be creative in order to visually convey a message. Therefore, this is an aspect of graphic design I enjoy; especially being able to have the opportunity to experiment with different colours and effects.

I went to Dane John Gardens in Canterbury to take a picture of a fountain and I edited it using Photoshop. The effect I used involved creating parts of the image black and using a horizontal type mask to create part of the typography to blend with its colour. Furthermore, maintaining some of the colours of the photograph was intentional in order to appear artistic and interesting.

Paradise Poster

I used a picture from a website called Pixabay to edit in Photoshop using the double exposure effect. The flowers were combined with the image to achieve the theme. In addititon, the title is representative of the vibrant use of colours such as red and yellow. The poster conveys an exotic appearance which is why it is titled paradise. The typography incorporates a white sans serif font in order to maintain balance and to prevent it losing its visual appeal.

Dream Poster

I used a picture from a website called Pixabay to edit in Photoshop using the double exposure effect. The flowers were combined with the image to achieve the theme. The title is representative of the clouds on the picture of the girl. Therefore, I chose the blue background to balance with the main element of the poster in order to convey the feeling of experiencing a calming, dream atmosphere.

Lost Poster

I decided to call this poster lost as I wanted it to have a mysterious theme - the double exposure effect was also incorporated using Photoshop. The use of the blue background was used to ensure the image of the girl blends well together with the overall colour scheme. Therefore, I ensured that the size of the font was not too big to avoid preventing attention from the main focus of my work.
