Malmö is Sweden’s third largest city, and is linked by the Øresund bridge to Copenhagen in Denmark. It is a young and diverse city.
A major transition from industrial city to a knowledge-based economy has occurred in the last ten years. This processes was energised by the Øresund Bridge, opened in 2000, linking the city physically to Copenhagen along with the founding of Malmö University in 1998.
This thesis proposes that an equivalent catalyst can be designed to stimulate urban growth into Malmö’s post-industrial Inner Hamnen.
