THE CLIENT
Hanns Professional has become Medway's lead independent salon in recent years. With a modern, stylish approach and an expert passionate team. The Salon offers a wide range of services including beauty therapies and bespoke styling. I worked to provide both branding and a website that display their quality, professionalism while holding on to their warm and welcoming approach. 
THE CHALLENGE
It had been a while since Hanns had been able to spend time on their website. Business had been great and the company had been expanding. With this in mind Kieran the companies founder was keen to develop the company further with the introduction of new branding and a rejuvenated site.
From initial analysis of the company it was clear to see that they prided themselves on being very team driven. This was something that I was very keen to incorporate in the new site. Also the existing site had been developed without a mobile option something that was sure to be reducing mobile bookings. My intention was to produce a contemporary, easy to navigate site that displayed all of Hanns services which was also available across all devices.
ROOM TO BREATHE
From initial analysis of the existing Hanns site it was easy to see that navigating the site was being hindered by the lack of space between the elements. Once I started to delve deeper into the pages it apparent that the site flow was confused by unnecessary elements. After removing these I created a home page which held of the key offerings of the site linking off to specific pages. Giving the client a direct route to the information they require whether that be by scrolling the homepage or directly via the navigation.
Banded sections were added throughout the site acting as containers for each element of information and helping the user to visually track their progress through the site. The new branding created additional depth to the new full width, high resolution banners with further additions being added in the lower areas of each page to identify a link driving users to create a booking at Hanns. 
Throughout this monochromatic site areas of colour were included to portray the energy and atmosphere created by the team. Areas such as "The Gallery" & "The Team" stand out within only a handful of areas on the site to benefit from full colour. This enables the site to have a stylish clean look with areas of energy & interest for the user.
DEVICE DESIGN
Another key progression in the new designs was the optimised use of mobile devices. Identifying that Hanns clients favoured booking an appointment while on the go as apposed to on a desktop meant that a simple to use mobile option was crucial to the companies booking options. Several options were trailed to ensure that the user journey was easy to understand and enabled a simplistic booking experience while on the go.
THE BRANDING
As part of the update of Hanns image I looked at the branding and worked to provide a more modern styling that would be able to grow with the company. This was developed to work in a range of applications from signage all the way through to products.
PRODUCT RANGE
Moving forward Hanns is looking to grow in size with the addition of product sales. Concept designs for the range were produced to enable the client to visualise and assist in their development. Initially the range will be sold solely in Hanns salons & website but in time they would look to expand distribution to retail outlets also.
SIGNAGE AND ADVERTISING
Another area that Kieran was keen to develop was Hanns visual presence in the local area. Advertisement campaigns to grow brand awareness were developed to tie in with the styling of the new website. These consisted of a range of magazine advertisements, bus shelter posters and mailers (for special offers). These will be rolled out over the next twelve months across the Medway area.
HANNS FUTURE
Over time the Hanns brand will be applied across several different media both in house and for external events. It was therefore necessary to create a style and presence that would be able to hold its own when placed next to the likes of industry greats such as Schwarzkopf Professionals, Vidal Sassoon & Wella.
Working closely with the companies founder (Kieran) it is my intention to to expand the companies new brand and styling across various media. Ensuring the growth and awareness of the Hanns name and developing it further in the hair & beauty industry.
