Hexagonale

  • Mario Guzman Aza
After a visit to a Toscanna query, the challenge was to create a new tableware design with upcycled marble. This type of material represents 60% of all marble extracted from queries. To give a second chance to this material, a new way to introduce appetizer was designed.
The main concept goes around the stunning and subtle geography of Montalcino, where the project took place. The tools provided, CNC route and water jet cutter, can accelerate and industrialise the product making it accessible to a wider audience.
Having in mind the cuisine from Toscanna and the natural and warm environment of the area, a display of food will be the best option to reflect their culinary diversity. The surface works as a remainder of the field and helps to contain the kind of products of the area.
The hexagonal shape allows clear but playful game of texture. It does also allow for a more organised presentation of the tableware design.
