House of Common Affairs (HOCA) is a brand new journal that focuses on involving both the niche and the general public in the overlap of arts and journalism. The initiative embraces a critical set of voices in the dialogue on this practice with the aim of promoting an international and interdisciplinary exchange of knowledge and its cultural value. The Fourth Estate Utopias is the very first issue of HOCA and it deals with the role of visual communication in relation to journalism. It addresses the project’s original subtitle: ‘fancy discussions about Fourth Estate utopias’ via reflecting back on the debates, interviewing socially engaged practitioners in visual communication as well as speculative or critical writing.
