The leather and shoemaking industries that I adore with a passion are currently, like all other businesses, struggling to stay operative during this unprecedented crisis. This incredibly tough times hopefully will make people rethink their work processes and that is why I wanted to make a piece as tribute to the wonderful professionals now going through a lot of pain. These businesses make every year thousands of color cards with swatches of their seasonal materials that very often become obsolete the following season and are considered mere disposable waste. I have accumulated a few of these over the years and decided that making something new upcycling them could be the best tribute to tanneries and factories in Spain, Italy and China. The result is an uneven pair of wedges completely covered in multicolor leather swatches from color cards, arranged randomly for a multicolor surprising result.
