IKEA x Home Away from Home (Concept)

  • Katie Collins

Design Bridge 1st place winner for 'The Start' competition 2021. In 2021, the number of refugees not settled in a safe place has gone through the roof and a record 235 million people will need humanitarian aid, which the UN attribute almost entirely to Covid-19. The 'Home Away From Home' campaign helps to rebuild the lives of refugees from the ground up with a range of patterns across 5 different product points. These products have been uniquely designed by professionals displaced from their homes, creating bold fabrics with strong stories behind them. All profits fund the IKEA Foundation, a program which helps establish the lives of refugees through employment. This concept project involved curating copy which translated the emotions behind the words, this was such an important cause which required getting the messaging spot on!
